This year, the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles will take a little longer to dress up to receive the film industry. Hollywood actors, directors, and producers will be there, almost three months later than usual, to attend the 92nd Academy Awards.

The Oscars 2021, which delayed its 93rd edition for two months due to the pandemic, will bet this year on a face-to-face gala with live broadcasts from different places, including their usual home at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (USA).

Next April, the American Film Academy will award one more year to those that have been the best films of the year. In 2020, the second consecutive edition was held without a master of ceremonies, and everything indicates that this decision will be repeated this year.

If you do not think that you will receive an invitation to go to the ceremony, you may be interested in knowing how to follow the red carpet and the awards ceremony from your home. Read on to find out the easiest way to watch them on TV or streaming.

Who are the nominees for the Oscars 2021

Nominees for the 2021 Oscars have yet to be announced, although we expect this year’s categories to be more diverse than usual.

Who presents the 2021 Oscars gala?

In 2018, Kevin Hart was announced as the host of the 91st Annual Oscars. However, some homophobic comments that the comedian had published on his Twitter account in 2008 were soon recovered.

This led the Academy to make the decision that the 2019 edition would not have a master of ceremonies, but rather that several presenters were in charge of introducing the various sections of the gala. That was the first time that no one presented an Oscars ceremony.

In 2020, there was also no presenter or presenter for the 92nd edition, and, despite the fact that many would like to see another year bet on Jimmy Kimmel, everything indicates that in 2021 there will not be a master of ceremony either.

When and where the 2021 Oscar gala is held

The 93rd edition of the 2021 Oscars will be held next Sunday, April 25, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, in the United States, from where it will also be broadcast on television.

The delivery ceremony should begin at 5:00 p.m. (local time) when in Spain they play 2:00 in the morning on Monday 26. The gala usually lasts about 3 hours, so it must be counted that it ends around 05:00 hours in Spain.

If the coronavirus allows it, those attending the great film event will appear on the red carpet from 00:30 (Spanish time). It will be then when we can know the impressions of the great protagonists of the night.

How to see the red carpet before the 2021 Oscars ceremony

For now, it is unknown if RTVE will offer a special program dedicated to the Oscars as it has done in previous years. In 2019, however, the public institution only broadcast the gala on the RNE movie program and was updating the information up to the minute through its website.

That meant that the only option to see the Oscars on television was Movistar +, and we have the feeling that it will be repeated in 2021. If so, the special programming would begin on channel # 0 at 11:30 p.m. and the red carpet at 00:30 hours. You can also follow the programming from its online service Yomvi.

If you are outside of Spain and live streaming is restricted, you can use a VPN connection and change your location. Alternatively, you can follow the analysis and interviews of experts in English from portals like E! Online.

How to watch the 2021 Oscars on television

In Spain, the Oscar Awards ceremony will once again be broadcast exclusively on the Movistar Estrenos de Movistar + channel from just before 02:00 (GMT + 1) and only if the cinema package has been contracted.

If you already enjoy Movistar+ television at home, you can buy it for only € 10 extra per month, or opt for the Fusión + Ocio total plan, which includes the CINE and SERIES packages and has a monthly cost of € 130.

You can also use one of the methods indicated in the following section and connect your laptop or mobile device to the TV. In most cases, you will also need to get an HDMI cable.

Suppose you are subscribed to Movistar + and have contracted the cinema package. In that case, you can even follow the ceremony from outside and from your computer, smartphone, or tablet, thanks to its Yomvi platform. We recommend installing a VPN network to avoid problems.

What is known about the ceremony?

What is known one hundred percent is that Steven Soderbergh will produce this Oscar ceremony with Stacey Sher and Jesse Collins.

“The upcoming Oscars are the perfect occasion for innovation and reimagining the possibilities of the awards,” said David Rubin, president of the Hollywood Academy, and Dawn Hudson, the institution’s CEO, in December.

“We are equally excited and terrified,” joked Soderbergh, Sher, and Collins, who will debut as producers at the Oscars.
