How Much Time Has Passed Between Infinity War and Avengers 4: Endgame? It was made to wait, but the trailer of Avengers 4: Endgame is already sweeping YouTube and driving the fandom crazy. Although the advance does not give many clues about the plot of the next film Russo brothers if you leave some keys to the Marvel Universe. Among them some signs of the time that has passed since Infinity War.

How Much Time Has Passed Between Infinity War and Avengers 4: Endgame?

Initially, the rumors prior to the advance pointed to the fact that five years had passed between Thanos and Avengers 4. However, thanks to the images of the trailer, it is now known that, although some time has passed, years have not passed.

From beginning to end of the advance, there are several sequences that show the passage of time for the Avengers, such as Tony Stark recording his message to Pepper Potts, the appearance of Hawkeye turned into Ronin or the return of Ant-Man. However, they all seem to indicate a different temporal ellipsis. How much time has really happened?

Iron Man and Its Space Odyssey

NASA Has a Plan to Rescue Tony Stark

The first evidence to calculate the time elapsed between the two films is Tony Stark, who is stranded in the space in the ship in which the Guardians traveled to Titan. Iron Man is completely dejected, without hope, and with the food and water reserves sold out four days ago.

There is no way to know how many supplies the ship had, nor if Tony left Titan just after the last battle with Thanos. But assuming that Stark tried to return as soon as possible, the food reserves would not have lasted more than a couple of weeks.

On the other hand, it is also not clear at what point in Endgame this sequence will take place. It could be given at the beginning of the film, but it is also possible that it appears in the second half of the film, taking advantage so that Captain Marvel enters the scene, as the rumors of the fandom point out.

Eye of Hawk Cards Time Being Ronin

The next potential clue is the return of Hawkeye, or rather, his new alter ego Ronin. When Clint Burton appears in the trailer, it is implied that he has been operating for some time under this new identity, assumed after a great tragedy, as his face shows.

Since Thanos annihilated half of the living beings with the Glove of the Infinite, the most probable thing is that Burton’s family was among the victims, although the advance does not make it clear. Assuming that Hawk’s Eye changed identity shortly after the click, chances are that it’s been a few weeks, even months, since Infinity War. Although this sequence looks like belonging to the second half of the film, so it would have spent more time.

Ant-man and His Return From the Quantum Kingdom

The last big track is in the sequence at the end of the trailer, when Ant-Man appears at the door of the Avengers barracks. While trying to convince Captain America and Black Widow to let him in, Scott Lang says they met “a few years ago … at the airport”, in reference to Civil War events. But … how much are a few years?

Ant-Man was trapped in the Quantum Kingdom without the possibility of returning to the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and La Avispa. Mysteriously Scott has managed to return without help, and presumably, this will have taken him a long time.

According to the Russo brothers, Infinity War events take place two years after the Civil War, and Lang’s scene in the Quantum Kingdom coincides with Thanos’ crack. Assuming that it’s been a long time since Scott’s disappearance, this leads one to think that at least another year would have passed between one film and another.

To this is added the sentence of Steve Rogers, who asks if “this is an old message”. Although Ant-Man has disappeared after the click, the question would not make sense if it had not been a relatively long time. Maybe five years?

Marvel films usually go, chronologically, at the same time as the time between premieres, with exceptions such as Capitana Marvel, which dates back to the 90s. Following this trend, Endgame would take place approximately between six months and a year after Infinity War. And all the evidence fits without problem in this time frame.

To find out exactly how much time has elapsed since the devastating snap of Thanos, and other mysteries of Avengers: Endgame, we will have to wait until April 26, 2019.
