Investigation Creates Suspicion About the Origin of the Trump Fortune. In particular, Donald Trump received about 413 million dollars from his father’s empire, thanks to which he helped the family to evade taxes, according to the New York Times.
An investigation published today by the American newspaper “New York Times” attributes the fortune of President Donald Trump to “dubious” tax practices and even to “fraud”, accusations that the lawyer of the president denied.
Likewise, the newspaper’s investigation reveals that the president’s fortune was not amassed by his own merit – as he claims – but, in large part, was inherited from his father, Fred Trump, who transferred more than a billion dollars to his children before his death in 1999. For this sum, only 52.3 million dollars were paid to the Treasury.
In particular, Donald Trump received about 413 million dollars from his father’s empire, thanks to the fact that he helped the family evade taxes, according to the newspaper.
In addition, the current president and his brothers would have created a false company to hide the millions of sums from their father.
Charles J Harder, Trump’s lawyer, rejected the accusations and said about it, as published by the same newspaper: “There is no fraud or tax evasion by anyone.” The facts on which `The Times’ bases its false accusations are extremely inaccurate.”
Meanwhile, other US media echoed a statement from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance that says it is reviewing the allegations and “carefully follows” avenues of investigation in this case.
Trump repeatedly claimed that he is a “self-made” billionaire, who started with a $ 1 million loan from his father and from there amassed a fortune.
The press repeatedly questioned this version. Today the “New York Times” said that the loan was in fact at least 60.7 million dollars and that it was largely never repaid.
