Angelina Jolie to Star in the Kept Adaptation. From Deadline, they report that the ‘ Maleficent ‘ star, Angelina Jolie has signed to star and produce the future adaptation of James Scott’s 2014 novel, ‘The Kept’.
The story takes place in the winter of 1897 in the state of New York, where a murderer heads to an isolated farm. Later, her owner, Elspeth Howell, arrives at her house and finds that her husband and four of her children have been murdered. After being wounded by the murderer, she will look for a hiding place with her son Caleb, 12 years old, trying from that moment to save their lives by all means.
The film adaptation will be written by Alice Birch, known for the acclaimed 2016 British drama, ‘Lady Macbeth’. Jolie will be the producer for Imperative Entertainment with Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas, with Jillian Apfelbaum overseeing production for the studio.
Regarding future projects of Jolie, the actress has pending the sequel to the Walt Disney film, ‘ Maleficent II ‘, a film that will be directed by Joachim Rønning and will hit theaters on May 29, 2020.
