At Least 23 Dead in Israeli Attacks on Iranian Targets in Syria

Among those killed are 5 members of regular Syrian forces, including an officer, and another 18 Syrian and nationality, according to the NGO.

At least 23 troops loyal to the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, were killed in Israel ‘s attacks last night on Iranian and Hezbollah positions in Syria, the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights reported Thursday.

Among those killed are 5 members of regular Syrian forces, including an officer, and another 18 Syrian and nationality, according to the NGO.

The missiles targeted military positions of the Syrian regime forces and their allies near Damascus, as well as in the triangle formed by the provinces of Al Quneitra, Deraa, and Al Sueida, in the southwest of the country, in the border area with the Golan Heights occupied by Israel.

According to the Observatory, the number of deaths could increase because there are injured in serious condition but did not specify their number.

Today the official SANA agency reported that Syria’s anti-aircraft defenses had destroyed dozens of missiles launched by Israel in the last hours.

The official agency, which did not provide more details, showed photographs and nightly videos in which the launching of rockets of the antiaircraft defenses is supposedly seen.

Israel attacked dozens of Iranian military targets in Syria after accusing Iran of the previous launch of 20 rockets, of which four were intercepted and the rest fell on Syrian soil.

“We have attacked dozens of military targets in Syria,” military spokesman Johnatan Conricus told a group of journalists, adding that this operation has been carried out for “several weeks, almost a month, in which it has managed to thwart several Iranian attacks. ”
